unknown magic
Chapter X - Revenge [part3]
Written by Tadi
I was sitting in the same café again when a
black car came to a stop in front of it. Zach got out and waved at me.
“You
carriage awaits, m’lady” he said and waved his hand dramatically at the car. I
couldn’t help but smile at him. He was wearing a black formal suite and his
hair was nice and sleek. He opened the back door for me and I sat in. We drove
to the boutique where the dress was waiting for me. As we walked in the Italian
lady greeted us with a big smile and she told me to sit down in a chair. Her
accent made it hard to understand a word she was saying, even though she was
speaking English. A younger woman started brushing my hair and I leaned back
letting them work their magic. They also polished my nails and applied makeup.
When they were done they guided me to the dressing room without letting me see
myself. They helped me put on the dress and also handed me a pair of white
high-heeled shoes. I walked outside awkwardly and everyone went quiet when they
saw me. I stepped in front of the mirror and I couldn’t recognize the person
looking back at me. I looked much taller because of the heels and my hair was
up and away from my face put neatly in to a stunning hairstyle. But the most
surprising thing was the makeup. My blue eyes popped out, thanks to the black
liner and my lips looked fuller, covered with soft pink lipstick.
“Ready?” Said Zach. I smiled and nodded. He held me around my waist as
we walked outside.
“We might have a problem” I said.
“Why?”
“I don’t know how to walk in heels” I whispered and he burst out
laughing.
“Well then” he paused and smiled “this should be an interesting night
after all.” We drove through Venice and came to a stop in front of a big
beautiful building, The Ca’ d’Oro palace. There was a lot of people walking
around, cars waiting to drop of the guests when we got out of the car. A man
approached us, his hair was black and he was wearing a black suit and black
sunglasses, probably to hide his blood red eyes. He escorted us up the stairs
to the entrance. He opened the door for us and slightly bowed his head. We
walked in and I stood speechless. The inside of the palace was absolutely
stunning, the decorations, the lights made it more welcoming, not at all what
you’d expect from a couple of vampires. Zach offered me his hand and I took it
as we walked down the stairs. Everyone stopped to look at us. I could feel the
envy in the women and the lust in men, all of the emotions coming over me made
me dizzy and I had to hold on to Zach to steady myself.
“Who’s that” I said, looking at the three people sitting on big chairs
at the end of the room.
“Those are the leading vampires, they’re considered royalty. Everyone
follows their rules, well everyone should.” We walked through the crowd to the
middle of the room. He lifted my hand on his shoulder and held my waist. He
held my other hand firmly in his and he started moving. I’ve never danced before
in my life and I had no idea what to do. So I just followed his lead and let
go, after two dances I finally got the hang of it.
“The one on the right is called Victor, he’s the one that started all
this. He can learn everything about you by just one single touch. Next to him
is his brother Lucius, he’s the meanest of them all. He can make you lose all
your senses just by moving his hand. And next to him is his wife Elena, she can
see into the future and she’s just as bad as her husband. Whatever you do don’t
make eye contact with any of them, once you have their interest, they won’t let
you go.”
“Maybe that’s exactly what I need.” I stepped
back a little to have a better look at them but he pulled me back to him.
“Don’t be stupid Alice” he said and we started moving to the song again.
I needed to get their attention, I don’t care what he says. I need to find the
vampires that killed my father. I gathered my courage and lifted my head to
look up at them. I focused on Victor and he met my eyes. As soon as he did he
tilted his head a little and smiled. He stood up from his chair and Lucius
grabbed his arm. It seemed like they were arguing and I looked away and focused
on the people around us. There were a lot of vampires in the room and the women
fought with each other over them. Vampires have this certain power that makes
them seem a lot more attractive than they really are, it’s almost as powerful
as the beauty of fairies. But it doesn’t affect me for some reason.
“Mind if I step in?” said a man with a heavy Italian accent. I turned my
head to look and saw Victor standing in front of me, smiling wickedly. Zach
held his hand in front of me protectively and pushed me back a little.
“Yes” he growled.
